Xero Partnership Guide

Xero is reshaping its Partner Ecosystem by evolving partner experience and monetization strategy at the same time. With the introduction of the Xero Partner Hub, Xero is signaling a clear shift: Partners are no longer an indirect revenue source driven by network effects; Partners are a direct revenue source in Xero’s monetization strategy.

This raises an important question for every vendor that integrates with Xero: How do Xero’s product updates influence my revenue model and growth strategy alongside Xero?

Changes for Xero Partner 2026: What You Need to Know about the new Xero Partner Hub

Key Takeaways

  • Offering an integration with Xero requires becoming a Xero App Partner
  • Being a Xero App Partner involves tier-based pricing for Partner
  • Pricing Tiers differ based on the number of connections and the required endpoints
  • Journal Entry Endpoint and Multi-Company Authentication only in the Advanced Partner Tier and require security assessment and use case approval

Understanding the Basics of Xero App Partnerships

Xero strongly believes in the power of its ecosystem and in ecosystem-led growth. The company follows an open strategy that allows software vendors to offer third-party solutions or integrations as app partners, under certain conditions, including listing in the Xero Marketplace and participation in co-marketing activities.

Xero's new Partner Pricing Model is Usage based

Xero sees its platform as a business model enabler for many businesses, which is why it decided to change the Partner pricing model. App pricing is a flat monthly fee based on tier and includes a set allotment of data consumption via the Xero APIs. Additional data consumption is available at additional cost.

  • Clear, usage based pricing: Xero is introducing five tiers: Starter, Core, Plus, Advanced, Enterprise. These tiers are based on connections and data egress volume via the Xero APIs, making it easier to access benefits as you grow and scale, while also making it clearer for you to forecast and control costs.
  • Updated policies for AI data use and access: The updates support the new commercial model and provide developers with clarity about tools which may not be used in conjunction with the developer platform and, importantly, that data obtained from Xero’s APIs may not be used to train AI/ML models.

The following table outlines Xero’s five Partner tiers, including connection limits, required capabilities, and pricing.

Changes for Xero Partners will take Effect on 2nd March 2026

Xero offers a migration phase from to the new Partner model. This considers existing apps and new apps as follows:

  • No new apps will be added to Xero App Store Subscriptions (XASS) or Commercial Billing (CB) models beginning 4 December, 2025.
  • Apps created between 4 December, 2025 and 2 March, 2026 that want to publish on the Xero App Store will begin on an interim billing solution. Those apps will then be migrated to the new model when migratio begins in March.
  • Existing apps will be migrated to the new pricing model beginning 2 March, 2026. Apps will receive 30 days prior notice to their migration.
  • Apps created on or after 2 March, 2026 will move directly to the new pricing model.

New Features in the Xero Partner Hub

The Xero Partner Hub brings some valuable changes. By consolidating client management, workflows, analytics, and insights into one platform, Xero enables Partners to keep an easier overview. At the same time, the Hub becomes the place where Partner performance is measured, directly linking product usage to commercial outcomes:

  • How actively clients use Xero
  • Which features and apps are adopted
  • Where Partners influence retention and expansion

The Impact of the Xero Partner Hub Changes for Maesn Customers

Maesn customers can continue to build and scale integrations to Xero and dozens of other ERP systems without any changes. Maesn’s Common Data Model remains fully applicable, enabling consistent, scalable integrations across systems. As before, setting up a dedicated Xero App, assisted by Maesn, is still required to ensure a seamless and native end-customer journey.

What has changed with the updated Xero Partner Hub is the Partner setup itself:

Additional, Xero-specific costs may now apply independently of Maesn.

We actively support our customers in navigating these changes and in setting up the optimal Partner and app configuration to minimize complexity and ensure cost efficiency.

What is changing in the Xero partner ecosystem?

Xero is shifting from a network-effects-driven partner model to a direct monetization strategy. The new Xero Partner Hub consolidates client management, analytics, and workflows in one place, while also linking partner performance directly to commercial outcomes.

How does the new Xero pricing model work?

Xero is introducing five tiers: Starter, Core, Plus, Advanced, and Enterprise. Pricing is usage-based, determined by the number of connected tenants and data egress volume via the Xero APIs. Each tier includes a set data allotment, with additional consumption available at extra cost.

Can Xero API data be used to train AI or ML models?

No. Xero's updated policies explicitly prohibit using data obtained via the Xero APIs to train AI or ML models.

When do the new pricing changes take effect?

Existing apps will be migrated to the new pricing model starting 2 March 2026, with 30 days prior notice. No new apps will be added to the old billing models from 4 December 2025 onwards. Apps created on or after 2 March 2026 move directly to the new model.

What does this mean for Maesn customers?

Maesn customers can continue building and scaling Xero integrations without changes to the Maesn setup. However, additional Xero-specific partner costs may now apply independently of Maesn. Maesn actively supports customers in navigating these changes and configuring the optimal partner setup to minimize complexity and cost.

Is a dedicated Xero app still required?

Yes. Setting up a dedicated Xero app, assisted by Maesn, is still required to ensure a seamless end-customer experience.
